Are you happy?
If there is no problem there is no need to worry. If there is a problem than worrying will do nothing to solve it. So there is no use in worrying. - Buddha
There is a popular Meme circulating around the internet. The meme is titled, "The Dog is Happier" The image of the meme is depicting a man, and his dog in a park like setting. You see a nature trail for hiking, many trees and greenery all around them, and a tranquil lake in the background.
There are thought bubbles going over the mans head showing that he is thinking about his house, car, work, money, and about the many bills that he has to pay. The dog on the other hand has thought bubbles going over his head showing that he is thinking about being in the park with his owner, and best friend. The dog's thoughts are focused in the present moment while the man's thoughts are everywhere but the park he is in.
Life happens to us all. We all have to earn an income to pay for our expenses in life. Making sure that our duly owed debts are paid in a timely matter is part of being a responsible adult. This of course doesn't mean that we must constantly focus our attention on our debts. We all have the ability to choose what to focus on in our daily lives as well.
The wise man focuses his attention on the present moment. The cause of depression is focusing your attention on the past. The cause of anxiety is focusing your attention on the future. Be mindful of the moment, focus your attention on the present and be at peace. - Lao Tzu
We can all choose what we focus our attention on. Most often what we focus our attention on is based on what is most important to us at the time. There is also the element of outside stimuli that can influence what we focus our attention on, but ultimately we still have the ability to choose our thoughts.
If you are driving for instance you can focus your attention on your driving as well you should be, or you can focus your thoughts on other things going on in your life. Maybe you are thinking about work, and an over demanding boss as you drive home on the same route that you have taken so many times in the past. The younger generation may be thinking about a person they have a crush on and wish to date, or how to conquer the next level of Candy Crush that they have been stuck on for the past few days.
Many people don't focus their attention fully on their driving unless they are in an unfamiliar area, and looking for an address. The first thing they do is turn down their radio to limit distractions, so they can be 100% focused on looking for the street they are going to turn down. (I am fully aware that this may be a bad example considering we are well into the 21st century, and GPS is common in vehicles today, but you get my meaning.)
You can not focus your attention on two different things at the same time. You may believe that you can focus on different things simultaneously, and have a talent for multi tasking, but you are not truly focused on more than one thing at a time.
Try this, set a cup, and a spoon on a table in front of you, and place them about a foot apart. Now try to focus on them both at the same time. Look at the detail of each item simultaneously. You may be able to step back, and see them both at the same time, but are you focusing on them, or the space between them?
If you can only focus on one thing, than be mindful of your thoughts, and focus your attention on what you are doing in the present moment. We all know that we create our future through our thoughts, and actions in the present.
If you are on this website reading these words right now than I am sure that you are aware of the law of attraction. We attract situations, and events into our life through our thoughts, and the power of our focus. There is a time to create your future with your thoughts, and a time to become completely immersed in the present, and dwell on happiness.
If you are constantly thinking about your debts, and the problems that you have in your life, you will only attract more of what you don't want into your life. There is a universal truth and that is, thoughts become things, and thoughts attract people, and circumstances into your life to bring about what you are focusing on into manifestation. But that's a whole nother topic...
The dog in the afore mentioned meme is focused in the present moment, you can do the same. Be mindful of your thoughts, enjoy the present, focus on happiness, and Embrace Nirvana.
